A fantastic win sees Netherton United under 11s beat the only other unbeaten team, Thorpewood Rangers, 6-0. The team knew they had to win the game, to win the group and secure another winners medal to add to last years.
The team played their best football of the season but could have gone 1-0 down in the first 30 seconds but for some fantastic goalkeeping from Lewis ( who should be playing in the Norwich /Posh academy soon judging by his performances this season). Netherton dominated the rest of the proceedings and the only respite Thorpewood got all game was the minutes silence before kick off.
Goal scorers were
Davitt x 2
Hamid x1
Ponsford x1
Masunda x1
Richmond x1
Hamid’s solo run and goal was one of the goals of the game, this was matched by
Masunda’s goal, who lobbed the goalkeeper from outside of the box. Hamid set up Davitt for his and Uniteds first goal of the game, Hamid beating his man and sending in a deep.
