Warboys Town FC 2 vs Netherton United FC 4 PFA Cup- Saturday 2 December 2017 14.00

Netherton United progressed through to the quarter finals of the PFA cup, but it wasn’t all plain sailing for the city side.

A defensive error from Mark Baines gifted Warboys an early lead. A trademark Dan Fountain freekick from 30 yards had the away team level. Netherton went on to spurn no fewer then 5 certain goal scoring opportunities before half time.

H/T 1-1

Netherton went into the lead just after the break after a well placed shot from Eric Makate.

Nethertons advantage didn’t last long after a lapse in concentration let Warboys back into the cup tie.

The city side went ahead again moments later through Tommy Randall and Dan Fountain all but ended the contest with a delicate dink to evade the on-rushing keeper.

Manager Harrison said “ I knew today wasn’t going to be anything like our 10-0 win a couple of weeks ago, especially without having any recognisable strikers to choose from". "We had to change our game up from recent weeks". "We would've lost games like today in recent seasons but this Netherton team know how to win ugly!!!"

Netherton now have another tough game away at Stamford Lions and hopefully can welcome a few faces back.
