Netherton United FC 7 vs Leverington FC 3 - PDLF Premier - Wednesday 24 January 2018

We welcomed Leverington to the Grange on a cold and windy Wednesday night, knowing any positive result would put Netherton top of the league. One forced change meant Dan Fountain slotted in at right back for the suspended Ryan Wood.

It was a terrible start for the city side, conceding 2 cheap goals that could of easily been avoided and spurning no fewer than 5 good opportunities themselves.
It didn’t take long for the home side to get going with the excellent Tommy Randall starting off the comeback with a brilliant goal. A quick Odain double had us in the ascendency before half time.

HALF TIME Netherton 3-2 Leverington

The away team came out all guns blazing and got the equaliser pretty much from the restart. This didn’t stop a rampant Netherton, who went on to score another 4 unanswered goals through Zak Fisher x 2, a brilliant Jezz Goldson - Williams curling effort and another for Odain completing his hat trick.

FULL TIME Netherton 7-3 Leverington

Jon Harrison: the gaffer commented " I wasn’t happy with the lads in the first 20 minutes but after that I can’t really complain, a little criticism is they need to be more ruthless in front of goal".
"Now for the big game on Saturday where hopefully we’ll reach our first final of the season!"

Team: Kier, Fountain, McDonough, Madigan (Daly), Hansford, Jackson, Baines (Ellis), Heming, Randall (Goldson-Williams), Fisher, Odain.
