AFC Stanground 0 vs Netherton United FC 12 - PDFL Premier - Saturday 20 January 2018 14:00

After a tough win against PSL, the lads made the trip across the city to AFC Stanground. Notable absentees were Karl Gibbs, Ondre Odain, Callum Madigan, Ryan Wood and last but not least the man at the helm manager Jon Harrison.

The managers absence allowed for the return of changing room favourite Simon Roberts who took charge for the day ably assisted by Local Legend Tommy Flynn.

Netherton were always on the front foot and was only a matter of time before the deadlock was broke. This duly arrived in the form of a Dan Fountain trademark set piece with Louis Heming rising highest to head home. The 2nd arrived 5 minutes later from a Fountain pile driver from 25yards out.

The game changing moment came when a Stanground defender decided to stop a certain goal from another Fountain free kick with his hand!!! This resulted in a straight Red card and penalty. This opened the floodgates for the away team with Tommy Randall going on to complete a hat trick and Zak fisher scoring two, another 2 from Fountain completed his hat trick and there was singles for Jackson, the returning Grant Watson and a very classy chip from Ben Daly.

In all fairness it could have been more for the city side, but coming away with 3 points and free of injury from a very physical game would have pleased the bed stricken gaffer.

Deputising manager Simon Roberts said "the boys did everything I asked of them, get the 3 points and get out and that’s exactly what they did! Now on to Wednesday night when we host Leverington at the grange".

Final score 12-0

TEAM: Keir, Heming, McDonough, Daly, Hansford, Fountain, Baines (Watson) Jackson, Randall (Fox) Ellis, Fisher
