Netherton United 6 vs Ketton FC 1 - Saturday 4 November 2017 14.00

Netherton blew away their opponents, with a fast start that included two goals in the opening 10 minutes. The city side added 4 more goals to make Ketton’s new manager Kai Brownhill’s first game in charge, one he’d like to forget.

Netherton started the match in confident style, playing some great football, they were aided by Ketton players sitting back and inviting the home side onto them. You can’t do that to a team in form and they paid the price for it. Robbie Ellis scored the first, neatly finishing after lobbing the ball over the final defender. Ryan Wood got the second, converting from a tight angle after Ellis’s shot had been parried. Ellis then got his second with the aid of a deflection. The city side were now in total control of the game, even more so when the league’s top scorer Zack Fisher opened his account for the day, and what a goal it was. The ball was fired into him on the edge of the box, he had a great touch on the turn before firing from the edges of the box with his weaker foot, the shot arrowed into the top corner.
H/T 4-0
The second half had hardly started when Netherton made it 5, this time it was Zack Fisher that profited as the Ketton keeper parried a Louis Hemming shot. Fisher then completed his third consecutive hat trick after being put through by Ryan Wood. Netherton had plenty more opportunities, but wasted all of them and their slack end to the game resulted in Ketton getting a consolation goal. Netherton manager Jon Harrison said “The boys are playing very well at the moment, the second half was a bit disappointing, as I know goal difference could end up being very important come the end of the season, but it was still a could win”
He added “We have a massive game in the league next week away to ICA, we will have to be on it from start to finish if we’re to beat them as their in great form too.”
