Kettering Town Elite (5) VS Netherton United FC U15 (7) Venue: Kettering Science Academy Date: 1 December 2018 Time: 11:00

Netherton went into the first of the day’s fixtures without JPL top scorer Villiam Radic who was away on “Birthday duties”. Not to miss out on a party, united started strongly and within minutes of the kick off found themselves 2-0 up with goals from Ryan Thomas and Lukas Vaickelionis.

This prompted a strong response from the home team who forced themselves into the party and were soon level with two quickfire goals. Kettering were now in the ascendency playing with a freedom/verve not seen in earlier JPL encounters with them.
Soon enough they found themselves in the lead at 3-2 and then quickly 4-2.
Just before the first half ended, Netherton through Ryan Thomas, slotted home a crucial goal to keep united in touch at half time.

Half Time 4-3

Whatever Coach Simon Roberts had said at the break worked immediately as hotshot supremo Ryan Thomas completed his hat trick with a sublime finish 4-4.

The game was now being played at a frenetic pace with Netherton not giving any quarter. Then arrived the moment of the match reminiscent of the Tiki-Taka style of Barcelona starting with a pass from goalkeeper Bartosz Berezowski to a team mate and then the ball being looked after with one/two touches by each player, back and forth waiting for the opportunity to slip the ball through, which finally arrived and finished off neatly by the impressive Loui Catt 4-5.

Netherton United were now purring, but despite the possession Kettering were let back into the game by an individual error 5-5. This however did not dampen the mood of the crack United outfit who once again lifted themselves playing with controlled aggression.

A quickly taken corner by Netherton caught Kettering unaware and Loui Catt unleased a rocket past the flailing keeper. With minutes to go Ryan Thomas completed a memorable day for him despatching his fourth of the game. A great performance by him and the team
