Netherton United FC U15 (8) Vs MK Dons (2) Venue: Kettering Science Academy Date: 1 December 2018 Time: 12:00

The second of the fixtures was billed as a battle of the current top 2 in the Midlands East Division of the JPL but was more of a powerhouse of a performance by Netherton as MK Dons were caught cold in this one-sided game.

The travelling support witnessed a “total football” symphony from Simon Roberts men. The first half must have been a blur for MK Dons as wave after wave of attack from united resulted in a well worked opener for Loui Catt.

United were enjoying their early dominance of the ball and were soon 2-0 up with Ryan Thomas bagging another, continuing his rich vein of form. United scored the third with skipper Danyaal Younus getting in on the act, on the end of another well-crafted team goal.

As the first half was closing Lukas Vaickelionis showed skill/strength to get away from his markers and leave the MK stopper stranded with a sublime finish.

Half Time 4-0

The message at the break from coach Simon Roberts was a simple one “more of the same”.

Netherton started as they finished the first half with a second of the game for Lukas Vaickelionis and a cool as a cucumber finish from Hashim Hussain 6-0.

MK Dons continued to play neat technical football but Netherton’s defensive arc of Euan Hatteresley, Wayne Cort and Bartosz Berezowski was a wall that MK were finding hard to penetrate.

With ten minutes left on the clock Lukas Vaickelionis became Netherton’s second Hat Trick hero of the day with a cultured finish displaying all his guile and trickery. The final goal for Netherton was courtesy of Loui the Catt continuing his goal scoring prowess 8-0.

The game however wasn’t over as the technically gifted MK Dons players continued playing football and were rewarded for their efforts with two quickfire goals two minutes from the end against a tiring United side.

This very strong Netherton team showed that Futsal is very important in the development of a young footballers’ journey, honing their natural ability, and at times today displayed breath-taking ability. A good day was had by the players/coach and supporters. Well done. Best of luck for the season to our opponents Kettering Elite and MK Dons. And a special thank you to Gareth Hamer of the JPL.
