Good early start for United in the elite league.

Netherton United continued their good start to the JPL with an away trip to St Neots.

On a lovely morning for football, our hosts played us in their impressive first team stadium, on a pitch that was perfect for playing football.

Both sides enjoyed good spells of possession, in the opening half of the game, and the first quarter was pretty even, although Netherton dominated the second period and went into the interval 2 goals up, both coming in a 2 minute spell and both neatly tucked away by Radic.

HT: 0-2

The 3rd quarter was again a very even contest, with St Neots playing some lovely football and they had done this throughout the first half, showing that they really are a good side, despite their previous results.

Pushing on for a goal in the last period St Neots started to leave a few gaps and Netherton comfortably dealt with any attacks and played their way through the field to counter with some nice passages of play themselves.

The City side had really played well at the back with the midfield being creative and strong going forward too, and a moment of pure genius from Hashim Hussain, skipping past three defenders and neatly finishing from 8 yards in the 78th minute secured the three points for United and earned the number 9 a deserved round of applause from most in the stands.

FT: 0-3

Full credit to Gary and his St Neots team, they never stopped doing the right thing and were fantastic hosts throughout.

Thank you too for the post match hospitality and all the very best for the rest of the season.

Goals: Radic (2), Hussain

Motm:
