Netherton Utd 5 vs 1 Deeping Reserves

Netherton started the game in confident style, controlling the possession and probing away. They had already missed a couple of chances before last seasons player of the year Ryan Wood picked the ball up and glided past a couple of defenders before firing a strong low shot across the visiting keeper into the bottom corner to put the home side infront.
Their lead was short lived though as a mistake from Chris Hansford let in Deeping's young striker who calmly put the ball past Aaron Kier to equalise.

The home side quickly got back on the front foot, and their pressure told as they went back in front through leading goalscorer Zack Fisher.

H/T 2-1

The second half was a cagey affair to begin with, Deeping trying hard to get back level, with Netherton trying their hardest to stay in front. All of a sudden Netherton extended their lead. The Deeping keeper making a horrific mistake, scuffing a goal kick straight to the prolific Fisher to slot home his 12th goal of the season. Eric Makate then put the finishing touch to a superb team goal, as the city side made it four. The mercurial Mark Baines then made it five with a delicious free kick.

To Deeping Reserves credit they never stopped and were given the chance to get another goal back from the penalty spot. Micheal Fox the guilty player giving away his second penalty of the season, but home stopper Aaron Kier made a super save.

Manager Jon Harrison said "There were some good individual performances from his side today, Woody and Baino were superb Donna done well." but he singled out striker Ondre Odain for special praise. He added "Infront of goal nothing went for him,but he never stopped working for the team and created lots of chances for his teammates. If everyone has his attitude on the pitch we will go very close this year."
